Dear District Nurses Association Nine (DNA 9) Members:
The annual MNA and District Election Process has started. We are writing to make you aware of the leadership opportunities for 2024 and 2025 and hope you will give serious consideration to being a candidate for one of the seven District 9 positions to be elected this year. The available district leadership opportunities with a description of responsibilities are:
DNA 9 President-Elect:
(The President-Elect is a 4-year commitment as follows)
2024 - President-Elect
- Assume all duties of the president in the absence of a president
- Become president for the remainder of the president’s unexpired term if a vacancy occurs in the office of the president
2025-2026 - President
- Serve as chairperson of the Board of Directors
- Be the principal representative of the DNA and serve as its spokesperson on policy and position established by the Board of Directors
- Preside at all meetings of DNA 9
- Serve as ex-officio member of all committees except the Committee on Nominations
- Annually appoint committee chairpersons with the approval of the Board of Directors
- Attend meetings of the District Presidents of the MNA
- Prepare the Annual District Report for the MNA
2027 - Immediate Past President
- Serve as a consultant to the president
- Assume all duties of the president in the absence of the president during the first year of the President’s term
All other positions will serve a 2-year term from Jan. 2024 – Dec. 2025:
DNA 9 Secretary:
1) Keep minutes of all meetings of this DNA and the Board of Directors
2) Conduct general correspondence of this DNA and the Board of Directors
3) Provide for the maintenance of all DNA 9 meeting minutes and related documents in a place/manner accessible to DNA 9 Board members
DNA 9 Treasurer:
1) Be accountable for the fiscal affairs of DNA 9 and shall provide written reports and interpretation of such reports to the DNA 9 Board of Directors and members
2) Develop a DNA 9 budget annually for Board of Directors approval
3) Serve as a member of the MNA Committee on Finance
DNA 9 Director (2 positions):
1) Attend DNA 9 Board of Directors Meetings
2) Attend DNA 9 Annual Membership Meeting
3) Perform other duties as requested
DNA 9 Member of the MNA Committee on Nominations (CON):
1) Help develop slate of candidates for MNA officer positions to be elected
2) Assist with maintaining email addresses for all District members
3) Assist with preparation of MNA & District mailed ballots when needed
4) Develop DNA 9 slate of candidates for DNA 9 positions to be elected each year and ensure a complete candidate application package for each District candidate to be submitted to MNA by the requested date
5) Attend MNA CON meetings, and respond to request for information and action, and keep MNA CON Chair updated on progress
6) Attend DNA 9 BOD meetings keeping them informed of District and MNA Election Progress
DNA 9 CON Member (1 position):
1) Help develop slate of candidates for DNA positions to be elected each year and
ensure a complete candidate application package for each District candidate
2) Keep DNA 9 member of the MNA CON updated on progress in developing District Slate of Candidates
If you are interested in being a candidate for one of the positions above, please contact me or any of the DNA 9 CON members below as soon as possible. The deadline to apply for candidacy is June 30, 2023. Application includes:
1) District Consent to Serve Form (attached)
2) 200-word or less essay addressing qualifications & interest in position
3) JPEG Photo (head & shoulders) – preferred within the last 5-years OPTIONAL
The 2023 MNA & District Elections will start August 01, 2023, and will end August 31, 2023.
