St. Mary’s branch of the NAACP Health Committee hosts their first annual 5K run/walk in Historic St. Mary’s City

The St. Mary’s branch of the NAACP health committee is having their first annual 5K run/walk in Historic St. Mary’s City on September 17th  where we will host 100 participants . The revenue raised during this event will fund 7025 health initiatives within the community for the next year.  We are asking for donations to make this event successful.    

    Our 3 year old committee has accomplished a number of events worth mentioning. Currently the health committee is involved in several health initiatives within the county.  We have partnered with the SMCHD on Get Out the Vax event, where we hosted several vaccine clinics during the height of the pandemic.  We hosted several fitness events during our Fitness in the Park series: Yoga in the park, War Cycle in the park I, II, Fitness in the Park 2021, 2022 our annual health and fitness fair.  We have also hosted multiple Mental Health awareness forums where we give the community an opportunity to hear and speak to licensedmental health professionals.  We’ve partnered with local law enforcement during National Night Out to bring cohesivenesswithin the community and law enforcement.  Our newest health forum is geared towards women’s health and will take place in August at the Church of the ascension on Great Mills Rd. Theseare just a few of the events our committee of volunteers have successfully accomplished.  

    We are asking that you assist us in continuing to do this great work.   By giving a donation from $50-$2000 you will help us cover expenses for refreshments, swag bags, equipment, andemergency services coverage for the 7025K. If you would like to sponsor a certain expense within the race that donation will also be welcomed.
